The first edition of the international contest, DOM3 Prize, has been presented. This is an award aimed at architects of any nationality, who can participate in the creation of a unique project that highlights premium construction as the highest expression of design, quality and location. This means that the project must unify architecture, landscape architecture and interior design in a single home.
The official presentation at the Hotel Ritz in Madrid was attended by the president of the Association DOM3, Sofia Polo, the CEO of La Zagaleta, José Pérez Díaz , and three of the four jurors: Teresa Sapey, Salvador Moreno Peralta and Fernando Caruncho.
The contest will remain open during the following weeks and the jury will announce the winning design on 27th of June. Recognition for the winning architect of this first edition will be €40.000euros and the subsequent implementation of the winning project in one of the most spectacular real estate showcases in Europe: La Zagaleta in Benahavis, Málaga .
During the presentation, the attending jurors stepped in to give their views on the current state of landscaping and architectural affairs in an international context. The architect Salvador Moreno Peralta highlighted how "Marbella is one of the few cities that survived the rampant urbanization that has destroyed many areas. Therefore, in order to continue to maintain its beauty and spirit , it is necessary to build quality, because, quality brings about quality "
On his end, the landscaper Fernando Caruncho noted that " high-end does not mean developing a large or small-scale project; premium is refinement and the rejection of the ostentaious." For Caruncho, "every city's architecture has come to resemble, and what remains in people's memory, that which identifies the identity of a place, is the scenery. All the architectural ensembles should be connected to the landscape. "
Teresa Sapey noted how "we are currently witnessing an historic moment in the change of mentality of what is luxury as a concept outside of ostentation. Luxury can be a simple and unexpected detail. Salvador Moreno Peralta added that "luxury is discretion. If man intervenes in the landscape, with discretion, it is an improvement. "
